Fantasy Football Stock Market Update! 10/20

Fantasy Football is like the stock market: Buy Low, Sell High - Grab players that are known to pay dividends - Diversify your portfolio! Here is our Week 6 Market Outlook.

Sell High

Terrel Owens (WR, Cin) - Ship him out!  Owens's overall rankings are skewed from two huge games.  He struggled the first 3 games of the season (50 yards/game and 0 touchdowns) and contrary to popular belief is not a weekly must-start.  If you can get good value, send him off.  If not, he will post acceptable numbers but not the kind that most sites are hyping him up to get (ranked 49 on the Yahoo! Big Board).  Keep in mind that Owens is 36 years old and a 16-week season is grueling.

Phillip Rivers (QB, SD) - Rivers is without a doubt a top tier fantasy quarterback.  However, his opponents have not been very difficult to this point (Kan, Jac, Sea, Ari, Oak, Stl)  His schedule gets much harder and injuries to Malcolm Floyd and Antonio Gates might signal some red flags.  He will be tested this week against the Pats for sure.  If you can get a guy like Drew Brees for him straight up, go in!  Another option may be to package him with another player for Peyton Manning or Aaron Rodgers.

Two HUGE Buy Low's after the jump!

Buy Low

Maurice-Jones Drew (RB, Jac) - MJD is coming off another week where he has been shut down.  He is currently averaging less than 90 yards/game - most coming against Indianapolis (a run defense at everyone has been tearing up) and owners know it.  The current worry level for MJD makes this the perfect week to snag him.  In weeks 15 and 16 (playoff weeks in many leagues) he faces Indy again (15) and Washington (16).  This is a move you won't regret!

Ray Rice (RB, Bal) - Similar to the MJD situation - A pre-season top 5 back that has yet to live up to his value.  Although he has had a few tough matchups, Rice is considered to be a must-start regardless of his opponent.  Look for Ray Rice to explode against Buffalo's generous defense  Get him now before owner's confidence levels (and Rice's alike) rise after a big day against the Bills!
